Sendai Seasoned Sashimi Bowl

I'm going to introduce you a delicious signature food of Sendai, Miyagi.
This beautiful seafood covering the rice in a bowl is called "Sendai Seasoned Sashimi Bowl."
Unlike other seafood bowls, these sashimi are seasoned with special sauce made with soy sauce.
This stimulates your appetite for sure! You can't stop eating the rice! There are several kinds of sashimi on it, so you can compare the taste with just this bowl.
Miyagi prefecture is known for famous fishing ports (e.x.Shiogama port, Kesennuma port).
Fresh seafoods coming directly from the ports are exceptionally delicious! So, "Sendai Seasoned Sashimi Bowl is definitely recommended!

There's much more you can do at this facility: cruise around islands floating the sea; take a cruise ship to visit Matsushima, the very famous sightseeing spot.

When it comes to souvenirs, you'll definitely find what you're looking for here.
There are a lot of shops gathering at a spacious souvenir area where fresh seafood and processed marine foods such as Kamabokoa are also sold.

Coop (Japan’s famous supermarket)

Assalamualaykum,
Too tired to cook? Don’t worry! If you live near Coop (Japan’s famous supermarket), you will find many Halal (InsyaALLAH) takeout foods with Muslim friendly ingredients. My favorite takeout food from this store is Sushi; their sushi do not contain any Mirin/Gelatin in the rice. Unfortunately, the soy sauce inside the Sushi package contains alcohol, so it’s better to use another soy sauce (Don't use packaged one).
Another takeout food that you may find it Halal is: Maki. Maki is a type of sushi roll that rice and various fillings (basically fish and vegetables) are wrapped in a sheet of dried seaweed. You can also try their fresh Salmon Marinade, which raw salmon slices are marinated in lemon juice with sliced onion. It tastes refreshing and energizing!
Another food that, insyaALLAH, you can try is their “Maguro no Tataki” and “Udon set,” Although emulsifiers is listed as one of ingredients, we confirmed with Coop directly that they use emulsifiers derived from plants (it’s safe to consume for Muslim, InsyaALLAH).
Coop’s variety of fresh salads are Halal as well, insyaALLAH, as long as no meat is added.
Another thing that I like about Coop’s Sushi is, it will be way more cheaper when you buy it between 9 to 10 PM; the price goes down around 50%
It’s the Student strategy! lol.

Sun Fish Kamaishi

Sanriku is known as one of the three largest fishing grounds in the world, and seafood caught in the sea of Sanriku is exceptional.
Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture is also facing the sea.
A fish market, "Sun Fish Kamaishi," which is 3 minutes walk from JR Kamaishi Station, has a variety of Sanriku seafoods.
Azuma Sengyoten(a fish store) recommended me to purchase salmon, scallop, and squid, all which are in season now.
Of course, all of them are caught in Sanriku.
There are still many more fish market like this in Tohoku. Don't miss out delicious seasonal foods!

Shiogama Seafood Wholesale Market

I just came to realize that I live so close to one of the world famous seafood markets and the sushi capital in the world.
Shiogama Seafood Wholesale Market is located just less than 1hour by train from my house in Sendai city. I visited Shiogama Seafood Market during Obon holiday. Our journey started from Sendai station and we took JR Senseki Line bound for Honshiogama station. From there you can take the 100 yen SHIONAVI bus and get off just right in front of the Market. Shiogama Seafood Market has become my favourite wholesale seafood market.
Did you know that this market is a major tuna market as well?
And the most important thing is you can make your own favourite DONBURI by picking your favourite seafood from the market and put them on top of your rice. In the block No.6, you can find a shop that sells the 300-yen set for rice and Miso Soup(Unfortunately, the Miso soup in the shop contains alcohol, so we just ordered rice).

If you don't like eating them raw, then there is a facility to grill your fish, shrimp, and etc.Enjoy and have a nice day at Shiogama Seafood Market !

Higashi mono maguro

<Higashi mono maguro>
Assalamualaikum. One of the things that come to mind first during autumn season is none other than tuna, which is called 'maguro' in Japanese. If you're fond of sushi, sashimi, or just fish in general, I'm sure you've eaten or heard of maguro. And the one I'd like to highlight to you is the 'Higashimono' maguro, which is available at Shiogama Seafood Market from September to December. Higashimono maguro is special because in order for a tuna to be approved and sold as higashimono, there are certain criteria that need to be met. They are carefully selected tunas that are excellent for their freshness, color, gloss, and fattiness. Simply put, higashimono maguro is one of the best of its kind and the awesomeness is proved by its delicious taste. So, hurry and get this high quality product while its season lasts. Time is limited!

Aquamarine Fukushima

Do you like Sushi, everyone? I bet you do.
Where do eat sushi usually? I assume you eat at some sushi place.
Today, I’m going to introduce a unique sushi experience.
Aquamarine Fukushima is an aquarium. But you can eat sushi here.
Eating delicious sushi while watching fishes swimming in front of you…it is a bizarre sight.
Unlike a regular so-called “aquarium,” Aquamarine Fukushima does not offer seal shows and such; in stead, there are fish tanks that reproduced the real sea environment and an exhibit about the organism of coelacanth.
I just introduced this place as an “aquarium,” but let me correct that.
I think it’s more appropriate to call this facility as “the museum of maritime science.”
There is an aspect of dietary education in the bizarre sight, that is, by looking at living fishes while eating sushi, you learn that you’re eating life.

Not only can you enjoy but also you get to learn.
Why don't you visit Auqamarine Fukushima with your family?
