Assalamualikum and hello brother and sister
Japanese sweet
corn is called "Kimi" in Tsugaru dialect. "Dake" on the other hand is
the name of district located at the foot of Mt. Iwaki in Aomori. To make
it simple, "Dake-kimi" means the sweet corn that is locally grown and
harvested in the District of Dake.
The peak harvesting seasons is
from late August till middle of October. It is believed that the huge
difference in temperature between day and night at the foot of Mt. Iwaki
contributes to its sweetness and deliciousness. In addition, dake-kimi
are sold either raw or cooked directly after they are harvested. By
driving through the foot of Mt. Iwaki, you can enjoy the breathtaking
view of corn fields along the road. Hence, please stop by at one of
dake-kimi stalls and enjoy the great ever sweet corn that’s worth your
money.
