Sasa dango

Assalamualaykum
Brothers and Sisters,
Today, I would like to review one of the most popular treats from Niigata prefecture, and that is “Sasa dango.” Of course you have heard about “Dango (sweet dumpling made from rice flour)”
before, because you cannot really separate Dango from your life in Japan. Indeed, dango is one of Japanese traditional sweets. And this Sasa dango is primarily produced in Niigata.
This sweet dumpling with anko (red bean paste) filling wrapped in Bamboo leaves is the specialty of one of Tohoku prefectures.
The Sasa Dango we tried does not use any Haram materials, like most of other traditional Sasa Dango. So, insyaALLAH, it is Halal to consume for Muslims and of course for vegetarians as well, because this product does not use any animal based ingredients. Personally I liked this sweet so much! Natural flavor it gets from the leaves makes the sweet even more special. With chewy and sticky texture, you can enjoy it untill the last bite.
So if you have a chance to visit Niigata, please try this unique kind of Dango and tell us what you think.
Enjoy.
