Coop (Japan’s famous supermarket)

Assalamualaykum,
Too tired to cook? Don’t worry! If you live near Coop (Japan’s famous supermarket), you will find many Halal (InsyaALLAH) takeout foods with Muslim friendly ingredients. My favorite takeout food from this store is Sushi; their sushi do not contain any Mirin/Gelatin in the rice. Unfortunately, the soy sauce inside the Sushi package contains alcohol, so it’s better to use another soy sauce (Don't use packaged one).
Another takeout food that you may find it Halal is: Maki. Maki is a type of sushi roll that rice and various fillings (basically fish and vegetables) are wrapped in a sheet of dried seaweed. You can also try their fresh Salmon Marinade, which raw salmon slices are marinated in lemon juice with sliced onion. It tastes refreshing and energizing!
Another food that, insyaALLAH, you can try is their “Maguro no Tataki” and “Udon set,” Although emulsifiers is listed as one of ingredients, we confirmed with Coop directly that they use emulsifiers derived from plants (it’s safe to consume for Muslim, InsyaALLAH).
Coop’s variety of fresh salads are Halal as well, insyaALLAH, as long as no meat is added.
Another thing that I like about Coop’s Sushi is, it will be way more cheaper when you buy it between 9 to 10 PM; the price goes down around 50%
It’s the Student strategy! lol.

Halal Gyudon (Beef Bowl)

Assalamulaykum,
Have you ever tried Halal Gyudon (Beef Bowl) in the restaurant?
Unfortunately, in the place where I live there is no Halal Gyudon shop.
Gyudon is usually cooked with Sake (or Japanese rice wine) and Mirin (which contain alcohol) and uses non-halal beef. But I have to find a way to try this famous Japanese traditional food. And the only possible way is to cook Halal Gyudon by myself. I found the recipe on the internet (Youtube Channel; Cooking With Dog:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpprBWvibvmOlI8yJOEAAjA), and I modified a little bit because Muslims cannot use any alcohol for cooking.
Here is the recipe:

Halal Gyudon Recipe :
200 g thin sliced beef
Ginger 5 grams (grated)
2 Tbs Japanese soy sauce (you can add more)
1 Onion thinly sliced
2 Tbs Sweet soy sauce
1 Tbs Brown Sugar
1/4 Lemon Juice
1 Tbs Granulated fish stock/Dashi
Scallion for topping
Directions:
Boil the beef until color changes, drain and set aside.
Boil 100ml of water and add all the ingredients, bring to boil, add the beef and wait until the soup thickens.
Now it’s ready to serve with hot rice.
Enjoy!
I hope you like it. You can add more or less ingredients based on your preference taste.

Sumiyakiya Halal Japanese and Korean Grill (炭やき屋)

Hi everybody!
I just quickly wanted share with you an exiting information about a Halal Yakiniku or Korean BBQ place!
One of the challenges for Muslims living in Sendai, I would assume, is the fact that there is no restaurant in which you can savor Halal Yakiniku. Although I'm not here to announce that we finally have a Halal Yakiniku place in Sendai (sorry about that), it is with much excitement that I introduce this Halal Yakiniku restaurant: "Sumiyakiya Halal Japanese and Korean Grill (炭やき屋)" in Roppongi, Tokyo.
If you are one of those people who are disappointed to hear that it's in Tokyo, which is obviously not Tohoku, let me light up your face by informing you that Tokyo is not really far from Sendai.
If you take a bullet train (Shinkansen), it only takes about one and a half hours to two hours! It's not bad, right?
How about spending a weekend in Tokyo? And when you do, hope you have a chance to stop by at Sumiyaki restaurant and enjoy some halal meat here.

HALAL Yakiniku

Assalamualaykum,
Today I would like to review about HALAL Yakiniku. Yes, you see that, Halal Yakiniku actually exists in Japan. Not in Tohoku, but in Tokyo, which is about 1 hour 40 minutes from Sendai Station by Shinkansen or Japanese Bullet Train.
“Sumiyakiya Nishiazabu,” is a Halal Yakiniku restaurant located in the famous Roppongi area. I was lucky, alhamdullilah, to try one of the best Yakiniku in the world so far. I ordered Sumiyakiya Course, which is a set menu that consist of
Home made kimchi
自家製キムチ
Assorted vegetables
ナムル盛り合わせ
Green salad
グリーンサラダ
Korean style vegetables pan cake
野菜チヂミ
Four types of beefs and chickens plate
牛と鶏の焼肉盛り合わせ(4種)
Ishi yaki bibinba
(Korean style rice and assorted vegetables heated in a stone pot)
石焼きビビンバ
I am not a big fan of innards, but it’s available and Halal of course.
There are 2 types of menus in this restaurant: Halal menu and Japanese menu. Make sure to ask the Halal menu in advance.
And did you know that the famous Mahatir Mohammad from Malaysia visited this restaurant and gave a positive review about the taste. If you visit Tokyo, make sure to check it out!

Japanese omelette

Assalamualaykum
Do you like omellete?
If so, I would recommend you to try Tamagoyaki, a multilayer Japanese omelette. The flavor of Tamagoyaki depends on what we add in the egg; it is usually soy sauce or dashi (when dashi is added, it can be called dashimaki tamago).
It takes some practice to be able to make the beautiful multilayer, and I suppose you can easily find how to make it on the Internet.

Hinano

Hello and Assalamualaikum guys.
I'm eager to introduce to you guys a restaurant called Hinano that caters for vegetarians. And of course, most of the menus are safe for Muslims except for some menus that you can confirm with the staff of the restaurant. It's a buffet style restaurant where you can eat anything you want as much as you can for a fixed price. With astonishing amount of variety of dishes (total of 70 dishes), which includes drinks, desserts, and etc., you won't be disappointed with the time you will spend eating here. Also, there's no time limit and the menu rotates and changes with the time. If you're a vegetarian or just want to enjoy delicious buffet, definitely check this one out!

Malaychan

Assalamualaykum,
Nothing beats the taste of Halal food! At least, that’s what I felt. Alhamdullilah, there is a restaurant called “Malaychan,” that serves Halal certified Malaysian dish. The owner of the restaurant is Japanese Muslim. I met her when I came to this restaurant, and she’s such a nice lady. I met the chefs as well; both of them are Muslim of course and, like the owner, they welcomed us with a warm greeting. I ordered Belachan fried rice and Satay, the famous Malaysian milk tea and curry puff. The Belacahan fried rice is the best that I tried so far, totally recommended. And you can also order authentic Malaysian cuisine in this well decorated restaurant. Don’t hesitate to come and try their amazing taste. Malaychan is located near Ikebukuro Station and is accessible from the famous Yamanote Line of Tokyo. You can go to the capital of Japan with Shinkansen for 1 hour 40 minutes from Sendai and transfer to Yamanote Line at Tokyo Station.
