Harako meshi

[Harako meshi]
Assalammualaikum and hello to everyone.
Have you heard about Harako Meshi?
It is basically flavored rice topped with autumn salmon and ikura (salmon’s egg). The taste is extremely delicious! Even the looks are already mouthwatering. However as a Muslim, it is difficult to find halal Harako Meshi because it usually contains alcohol. Therefore, I made this Harako Meshi on my own with altered recipe. You can find the recipe below.
Harako Meshi is originally from Watari City and it is a popular menu in autumn because autumn salmon is totally different from the usual salmon; autumn salmon contains more fat, which means it is much juicier. For Japanese people in Miyagi, Harako Meshi symbolizes the arrival of autumn season.

Ingredients:
Japanese rice 2 cups
Autumn salmon 4 slices
Ikura
Tare (sauce)
Coca cola (as alcohol substitute) 60 ml
Shoyu 2 ½ tbsp.
Sugar 2 tsp
Directions:
1. Cut salmon to small pieces.
2. Boil tare and put salmon pieces only for a while.
(If too long, salmon will become hard. We want juicy and soft salmon)
3. Separate salmon and tare.
4. Wash rice then cook with all of the tare and water.
5. After rice is cooked, top it with salmon and ikura.
Do try it and you will be satisfied!
