Taiheiyo Ferry

Country of Japan is made up of four largest islands, Hokkaido, Kyushu, Shikoku and Honshu. Tohoku region is located on northern part of Honshu island, which is the largest island in Japan. If you’re living in Tohoku region, you can travel mainly from Sendai to Tomakamai, Hokkaido or to Nagoya by cruising starting from Sendai Port ferry terminal.
The sea route is another alternative mode of transportation for you to travel within Japan with fairly reasonable price. I have tried the ferry from Tomakomai Port, Hokkaido to Sendai port. The distance is around 560km. The ferry’s name is ‘Kitakami,’ which belongs to Taiheiyou Ferry. It was very unforgettable and enjoyable experience. The ferry is very comfortable, exclusive and amazing. There are many facilities inside the ferry that you can enjoy during the journey like spa, cinema, indoors game and others. You can see the beautiful and marvelous view from open air area of the ferry. I arrived at Sendai Port around 11am, so I was on the ferry around 15 hours.

Sendai Port ferry terminal is located over two cities: Tagajo and Shichigahama. Roughly 30 minutes drive from Sendai city center. Mitsui Outlet Park Sendai Port located near the Port is another attraction for shopaholic. Newly opened Sendai Umino-Mori aquarium also located nearby Sendai Port is another tourist attraction at Sendai Port area. Sendai Port area offers you more than just a ship, cargo and big container lorry. A lot can be discovered when you ever come to Sendai Port area.
