Otomeyuri (Lilium rubella)

Hi everyone!
This is Tomomi Hama.
In Nishiaizu, Fukushima, I encountered with this beautiful flower: Otomeyuri (Lilium rubella).
People love lily flowers throughout the world and, in fact, many Japanese people adore lilies. This “Otome-yuri” is only found in Japan, more specifically, it exists only in Tohoku region and part of Niigata prefecture. Because of its rarity, IUCN classified Otome-yuri as Endangered in terms of the conservative status. It is indeed a very special flower.
Otome-yuri secretly blooms at the mountain in Aza district. It’s the proof of the beautiful nature and local people protecting the flowers, right? The language of the flower is “careless beauty.”
I think it portrays Japanese people.
Please make your way to Niigata asap if you want to see the flower, as the season is coming to an end. It’s actually a bit of hiking to where the flowers are blooming, so make sure to wear appropriate attire. It’s a good idea to bring bug spray with you.
If you’re lucky, you get to see beautiful sunset like this on your way back.
